Vantaggi
Great people work at Block and there are super smart, talented and very helpful teammates in the Executive Operations department; Plenty side projects to work on when you have the bandwidth; Compensation is great; working for Block is awesome because the company mission is pretty legit; the Block office spaces are wonderful and visiting them is always a treat.
Svantaggi
Very clear/obvious favoritism in the EO department; if you're a favorite of the leads then you'll have great opportunities for advancement and even to get away with things other EAs would never do/be able to do; too easy to fall out of someone's "good graces"; drama every time the group meets in person at an offsite / someone honestly gets fired after nearly every EO offsite because of it; diversity in leadership hardly exists; if you don't live in California - good luck trying to advance in the company and in levels; advancing in levels is nearly impossible now. After the team favorites were promoted the promo rules magically changed. Now you need a "business need" for your promotion so you're essentially stuck in your level unless you switch roles or your exec is promoted; I supported some of the worst execs in my EA career at Block, Inc. which is crazy because Block has great people but some of the senior leaders (across the company) aren't so great and are instead super problematic with poor internal reputations. Before the layoffs, politics in the EO department was insane. Some leads give a lot of lip service and will act like they support you and are "there" for you but actually aren't. Some leads literally don't respect confidentiality and run their mouths like teenagers in high school.
