A former colleague asked me to summarize my first 2 weeks in three words. Not so easy, but what came to mind is "bold, bright, and warm". His response was "wow" and then he suggested I add some details. I went on to describe what impressed me about the team -- but it really all began with the interview process.
We are a relatively small but quickly growing team. Leadership clearly understands that who we bring on today will make all the difference to our tomorrow. Many start-ups say you'll have to interview with the founders, but you get 15-30 minutes, often jointly. Not at Blocknative. In fact, my 60-minute interview with the CTO (note, I was NOT and did not join the development team) frankly swung my vote in the direction of Blocknative. Chris was thoughtful, interested, interesting, and so clearly stated the opportunity before us that I frankly couldn't say no to the job. When I spoke with the CEO the following week, he equally impressed me; I felt super confident I'd made the right choice accepting the verbal offer.
Onboarding was no different -- four executives dedicated their time to getting on a call with me, setting the tone for what was ultimately an awesome first 2 weeks, and answering all of my (sometimes silly-seeming) questions. These folks have built successful businesses in the past and it shows.
Svantaggi
None immediately come to mind except the general "cons" related to a start-up environment. I except Blocknative isn't for everyone. While we emphasize thoughtfulness, kindness, being an adult, etc., we are committed to a pretty fast pace and results. That's something to keep in mind when navigating the interview process (and once onboard) but not necessarily a con.
