Vantaggi

Bloomberg is a great place to work if you're just starting out in an entry level position. Broad exposure to multiple different facets of the financial and media worlds. Excellent opportunity to explore new fields with plenty of options for lateral movement to new departments. Enough free food that a little creativity can mean not having to buy lunch. The offices are AMAZING and very centrally located. Young atmosphere which is a pro or con depending on how you look at it. Amazing summer party.

Svantaggi

The pay STINKS. Expect to make 30% less than you would for a comparable position in your industry and with your level of experience. Bloomberg hires people young, lets them move around, but never bothers to pay them. Almost universal dissatisfaction with pay (with the exception of management) leads to lots of people getting their experience at Bloomberg and then going elsewhere to actually make money. Bloomberg really is a very nice place to work but if pay is one of your top concerns you WILL be disappointed.

Vantaggi

Only a five-hour-per-week time commitment, which is very manageable with my class schedule. Bloomberg provides ideas for challenges and activities to host at my school, so I would not have to come up with everything from scratch. There is flexibility to choose when I table and to tailor the role around my schedule.

Svantaggi

The budget for the program is tight, which is frustrating because advertising to law students is exactly how Bloomberg Law builds a dedicated user base. In my opinion, whoever makes the budget is not seeing the bigger vision. A lot of attorneys may not like Bloomberg Law, use it regularly, or ask their firms to purchase a subscription simply because they were never meaningfully exposed to it in law school. This is exactly why Lexis has taken over in such a big way: its presence and budget are felt at law schools across the country. If Bloomberg wants future attorneys to become loyal users, it needs to invest more seriously in reaching students while they are still learning which legal research platforms they prefer.
