If you browse the more recent reviews on here, you might notice a trend - generally positive reviews from those in Sales, but very negative reviews from those in Engineering. Unfortunately this, sadly, reflects the reality on the ground, where the whole company focuses almost exclusively on Sales, while Engineering is routinely ignored, despite being responsible for the technical innovation that got the company where it is today. A few examples come to mind: - Company-wide "all-hands" sessions focus almost exclusively on Sales numbers. Even new Product features are rushed through once the Sales back-slapping has finally completed. Engineering rarely even gets a mention. - Engineering is routinely overruled by Product, even in technical decision-making. Often this involves choosing the option with the most widely-available resource pool offshore, so that the work (and most of the teams) can be outsourced to India. This has resulted in a rapid exodus of top technical talent. Anyone who values innovation, new ideas, or even just having some say in the way things are built has long-since departed. Engineering leadership are aware of the problems and yet seemingly have no willingness/power to change things. - Engineering is forced to follow the same career-path template as other teams, meaning the only route for career progression for an engineer is to take on people-management responsibilities. This results in good engineers being forced into roles where they spend most of their time firefighting or solving non-technical issues. The idea of people progressing as "individual contributors" is completely alien here.
