Svantaggi
I would avoid applying here. This company is perpetually in a state of disrepair. When I arrived, I was excited about the prospect of producing social videos for a “rapidly expanding startup.” It didn’t take long to see the company’s countless structural issues. The management, post-production, permissions, motion graphics, and operations teams are based halfway across the world in France. The US branch has little autonomy and pivots on the whims of French elitist “tech bro” executives. These people don’t understand social media and expect Vice-quality videos on NowThis deadlines. During this period of “rapid expansion” (the company acquired a massive office in SoHo and was slowly hiring people), they abruptly laid off 9 US-based employees (me) and shut down several international teams. Their reason: a downturn in the economy forced VC-backed startups like Brut to reorganize. Executives, riding the high of growth in France and India’s markets and giddy about a massive investment from James Murdoch himself, had naively promised growth in the US without actually understanding the US market. This was their second round of mass layoffs in a 3-year period. I enjoyed working here and feel proud of the content I created, but I think you're better off seeking employment somewhere that is more established and less volatile.
