Vantaggi

Hmmmmmmmmm...not sure about this one!

Svantaggi

Very toxic to work for. BFRS are very anti towards their On-Call firefighters. No investment in them and many are leaving the job as they never, EVER feel valued. Management don't care about on-call staff and blame them for not being able to crew appliances yet it's THEM who are causing the issues. They seem to have forgotten all about their on-call and concentrate all efforts on wholetime staff. On-Call crews never get listened to and ideas are dismissed by managers, who then (after months) come up with the same idea, think it's great and get the credit. Very difficult to get promotion as management forget that on-call staff have a full time job outside the fire service and promotion process is more aimed at wholetime staff. Those on-call who have gone through the promotion process then have to take a lot of annual leave form their full time employment as management put courses on for them during the week, which is easy for wholetime staff, but again, management DON'T THINK!

Vantaggi

Everybody that works here is kind-hearted and naturally friendly, with a good sense of humour. The upcoming Chief is an asset to the organisation, strong vision, an enabler.

Svantaggi

Not enough is invested in support staff development and there is no career progression, so the good people are leaving. Middle managers are often less-skilled their juniors so you can never learn or develop. Middle managers are 'lifers' blocking the progression of upcoming talent and making the organisation stagnate skill-wise.
