Vantaggi

Fully remote. The 4-day workweek is appealing in theory. Benefits are solid. Most coworkers are friendly and well-intentioned.

Svantaggi

The biggest issue is the disconnect between what Buffer says it is and what it actually operates like. Don't believe the hype you see on LinkedIn, it's all part of the image the company wants to convey but does not represent reality. The 4-day workweek isn’t really a 4-day workweek unless your workload magically fits into it. If you can wrap everything up by Thursday, great. If not, Friday becomes a quiet catch-up day. No one mandates it outright, but the expectation is there if you want to keep up. Leadership feels inexperienced for the stage the company is in. The founder-CEO still runs things in a very informal, reactive way. Priorities shift, decisions stall, and teams are left guessing. There isn’t strong executive experience brought in from outside... Most leaders have simply grown up at the company. It sometimes feels like people were promoted because they were early, not because they’ve led organizations at this level before. The culture leans heavily into positivity to the point where it becomes toxic = hard to raise legitimate concerns. Challenging ideas or asking direct questions can make you seem like you’re “not aligned.” There’s a lot of reframing of problems instead of confronting them. It can feel like difficult conversations are avoided rather than resolved. On the inclusion front, the messaging is strong, but the power dynamics tell a different story. Influence tends to sit with a small group of long-tenured early employees. If you’re outside that circle, advancement and impact can feel limited. There’s also been noticeable turnover in DEI leadership, which doesn’t exactly build trust. Financially, there’s an undercurrent of instability. Growth hasn’t kept pace, and revenue trends are publicly available. It creates tension internally, even if it’s not openly discussed all the time. Career progression is limited simply because the company isn’t expanding much. If you’re driven and looking for upward mobility, you’ll likely hit a ceiling fairly quickly. It’s not a disaster, but it’s also not the utopia some reviews suggest. It’s a small company trying to maintain startup ideals while facing the realities of a more competitive market, and that tension shows.

Vantaggi

- Some really talented people to work with - Great perks & 4 day work week - Back in the day, the culture was good. (however things have changed since then)

Svantaggi

- Sooo many internal politics. - Being fired for using the perks offered. - Little to no career growth- you cap out at a certain point. I’d recommend staying 1-2 years and moving on.
