Building Bridges is full of passionate people who really make the job great. It’s nice to work in a clinic setting and be able to cover shifts, and get to know lots of different styles of work.

The owners are horrible. They use guilt as a tactic to make people do what they want. There have been so many times where we did not have gloves or paper towels yet we handle bodily fluids constantly as we potty train children. A coworker got in trouble for using prep time to clean but the rooms were always dirty when we came in and the cleaning person came mid day when there were still hundreds of messes to be made. They play favorites. If you are a favorite (I was) you get easier clients, better schedules and get treated with respect. If you’re not you are demeaned and given the hardest clients. There is no consistency in getting breaks. If you want a lunch break consistently scheduled in your day you have to ask for it- it is not a given. It’s unlikely you will get your other two 10’s, and if you do they often have to happen within 2 hours of each other despite having to work a minimum of 25 hours a week. There are NO lines of communication. And people have to strategize how to give them feedback to “not hurt their feelings” Staff have been asking for YEARS for staff meetings and they obliged ONCE. And it was scripted and they gave next to no time for feedback. They blow off any concerns or feedback as people just hating them- even concerns of racism in the workplace. Men get recognized for good work more than the women, despite being a woman owned business. They push kids into groups to make more money but the kids are not always ready for that. Instead of scaling those kids back to one on ones they let those kids derail the groups and the leaders have to scramble to accommodate. They lowered the starting pay over the years. And their raises are arbitrary and based off favoritism. Some people get big raises when they ask, others have to fight for small raises and there is no rhyme or reason to how they choose which raises to gives There are so many more things I could complain about but I’ll leave it at that. As a whole I was actually one of the people who was treated best, but I still suffered their poor management and I got so sick of seeing them treat my coworkers- who were wonderful people horribly. So I chose to leave.
