Vantaggi
-Decent starting pay -401k -Fairly cheap and decent family insurance plans -Some people are really good and helpful -You can move up in the company, with difficulty and only if they need you
Svantaggi
-Horrible morale, everyone is unhappy and it shows and feels that way, always. -Lots of trouble-maker co-workers, outright lazy, and very belittling if they are training you. -Very weak union, the union rep is not on your side. They enforce the union rules to the T against you, but management goes around the union rules with excuses, or drags things out in hopes you stop caring. -Dirty, greasy, oily place. -Dangerous place to work. -Absolutely the worst maintenance crew ever, very combative and never want to do their jobs. They blame you for constant mill problems, instead of listening to you and getting the mill running quicker. Complete waste of time and I even got yelled at, cussed out by them because the other maintenance guy adjusted something, walked away, the other came back over in my area and saw a wrench on the machine, assumed I adjusted something, and cussed/yelled at me and told me to go see the supervisor with him. I obliged, then let him have it once in there, right in front of the supervisor. -For sticking up for myself, I was told I handled the situation wrong, yet told I need to man-up by the supervisor. Manning up being what, beating the guy down? Letting him walk on me? It seemed to be a bigger issue I handled it then the guy yelling at me and cussing at me. -A new computer system we never asked for has cost of many days of work, lots of problems with the product, and even with trucks coming to pick the steel up. We sat home a lot this year due to a full warehouse, no coils, and other issues due to this system. -We had bonuses monthly all last year, but due to the amount of product we sent out this year, they took them away. They are worth $100-700+ a month, so they can really give a big boost. Punished for a system we never asked for and they went live with in the whole company before being tested. -No upkeep at all, everything runs until it breaks. Maintenance too busy watching movies, sleeping, or arguing to fix issues. -They put bids out to upgrade your position, but do not cross-train or hire people in quickly to fill your position so you can move up. You win a bid, you are supposed to get a raise, but they can take months or even post your "upgraded" position up again due to no real effort to hire people so you can start your new position. Like a rabbit with a carrot he can never catch!
