Vantaggi
Free snacks & parking. Everyone leaves early on Fridays. The majority of my coworkers were lovely, intelligent, hardworking people. I did not work under the new CEO, Lena Trudeau for very long but she seems to be competent.
Svantaggi
Bytecubed wants so badly to be seen as a leader of innovation. To do so, the company has adopted some of the common markers of a "tech company," the snacks, drinks on Fridays, the office is open plan, everyone speaks in buzzwords, etc. What the company doesn't do is attempt to address any employee concerns in a real way. My manager & HR were very available to listen to and validate my concerns but were either effectively powerless or unwilling to actually address them (as time went on my opinion shifted from the former to the latter). Consequently, the company is overrun by large personalities who fit Bytecubed's idea of a "tech wunderkind," but in reality are more bluster than substance and frequently create more work for everyone at the expense of the project. Organizational changes, from as small as seating arrangements all the way to major shifts in leadership, occur with little to no advance notice at all levels, further demonstrating how poorly organized the company is.
