Remote work Weekly pay Decent Insurance ESOP- I did not participate in their ESOP while there but had heard it was decent-very good from multiple people. Some of the employees there are very intelligent and a pleasure to work with, as well as some of the customer base depending what department/division you work in. Relaxed environment, with lots of flexibility- Also very dependent on which area you work in, management, and your skill level. Tools and Systems- Some of their tools and systems they use are great to work with and allow you lots of customization to suit your workflow and make things easier.

Long but worth the read if you are considering employment. CCI Guide Star is a horribly managed company. Upper leadership is incompetent, often making rushed and poor decisions without feedback of the employees or lower management. The CEO, VP, Directors, and some management preach about endless career advancement opportunities but rarely promote the deserving, hardworking employees, that actually make a difference or improvements in their divisions. They promote people who brown nose or know someone in leadership, sometimes into pointless roles just to pick favorites. These people are not fit for leadership, management, or important decision making. You do not have job security working here. In my time there, I had seen multiple, sizable layoffs. Whether it was contract cancellations that they should have seen coming, or profit numbers weren't far enough in the green. Leadership loves to, "trim the fat" and does it often. I have seen many hardworking, reliable, and talented people lose their livelihoods because leadership is incompetent, or maybe they just wanted to make sure they could afford a new vacation house and car. Who knows. They never seem to be overstaffed because they are constantly hiring, so I boil it down to incompetence. Layoffs; When I left, I was on my fifth manager, and saw four reorganizations within two years. They give workers ultimatums of either being fired, or taking a pay cut and a new position that doesn't line up with their skill sets or desires. They are constantly merging different departments that make no sense being together, to share each others work and increase productivity. This often fails horribly and just makes scope of work a confusing mess. Combining entry level positions with intermediate or advanced positions, with no training or raises is a horrible idea that created unneeded stress every time. The pay is embarrassingly bad, ranging up to 30% lower than the low end of industry medians for the work you do. Raises are inconsistent, and unfair based off your performance reviews. Some people go over a year without seeing any sort of raise (even "cost of living") or promotions even if they have widely expanded their skill sets and gone above and beyond in their work. They will do anything they can to not promote you or give you a raise. I have personally heard leadership talk about leveraging a potential new hire's current employment situation, to hire them on at a lower wage than they deserve. They seem to suffer from some delusion that they can pay based off the lower cost of living of where the company is based out of- the upper peninsula. Their 401k plan matches to a certain percent, just like any employer nowadays, but the investment return is mediocre. It yielded 1/3 of what my previous employers did in the same amount of time. Maybe 401k's aren't doing well because of the economy, I don't know, I am not an expert, just an observation. You also are not 100% vested until three years. Standard with companies with poor retention. They will laugh at you on your way out. During one of their biggest layoffs and reorganizations I had seen while there, they gave all the people who were losing their jobs a 2 week notice. On the last day of those people's employment with CCI Guide Star, they held a company wide meeting for an announcement. They announced that they had acquired Teck Solutions, another MSP to merge with Guide Star. They also gloated that the acquisition was a cash transaction. So, after they just laid off a sizeable amount of people, under the guise of it being strictly business and because of revenue, their final goodbye was letting everyone know they spent presumable millions to absorb another company. I have no professional words in me to say anything further about that. Workflow; Generally speaking, their documentation is horrible. Internal or otherwise, you are often left guessing or having to figure it out at the expense of a customers time or your own productivity. My team worked very hard over the years to create solid documentation from nothing. However if not for our own hard work, the company in general from what I saw being in multiple roles during my time there, is just winging it most of the time. There is basically no training protocols or systems in place for most departments. I personally worked for months with two great employees making documentation, instructions, step by step videos, etc to make this process better, but it was basically was all for nothing. After a few reorganizations this was all made irrelevant, or if it was a process change that benefited the worker and customer more than the company dollar, it was, for the lack of a better term, thrown away. You can only excel as a novice here if you are a very quick learner, adaptable, work well under stress and frustration, and can be independent. This whole review is barely scratching the surface of all the issues this company has going against it, or the things myself or others have been through, but I wanted to create as detailed and to-the-point description of the worst things about CCI Guide Star. In it's current state, I would only recommend this place to someone who needs experience, and can live with lower middle class wages.
