Svantaggi

See below I been working at CDI for almost 3 years now as PC technician, and this company is; without a doubt , the worst company I had the displeasure of working for in all of my employment history. This company is plagued with many issues; sadly, most of them are self-inflicted and can be easily rectified if upper management is not busy being drunk with sales numbers. For those who are expecting a short company review; this is not one of them; grab something to drink because this is going to be a longer review than most. CDI stands for Computers Dealers Incorporated, as the name implies, we supply refurbished computer equipment from small to large government/business organizations. Like most knowledgeable technicians in our field, the term refurbished is not a good word because it implies low quality computers that will break down in the near future. Ironically, as a technician, it is your job to produce these subpar quality machines and while quality may not be of your concern, this will soon be a major headache, for the following reasons. Technicians have a daily production quota to complete or else you will be given a written warning letter. This is a fair standard practice in a production factory, unfortunately, it seems that management is cannibalizing its own operational efficiency and actually wants to sabotage your productivity. Most of the parts we have on inventory are either defective or incredibly worn out where the parts are no longer work effectively, I have lost track of the countless amount of time that I have lost due to playing Russian roulette with parts. What is even worse is that it takes more time to obtain a part replacement than it is to diagnosis a faulty hardware. Usually it takes around 15 to 20 minutes in fixing faulty parts , sadly, that same cannot be said for getting replacement parts. Technicians are not allowed to access the parts area, only the inventory specialist can provide replacement parts. What is the problem you may ask? We have over 20 technicians in our work benches and only 2 inventory specialists; who are in no ways dedicated to our working area, they often come in and out of the warehouse area due to other inventory duties; resulting in us waiting for a long period of time, sometimes ranging from a quick 30 minutes to as long as a few hours. I recall a time when I asked for a Hard drive replacement and waited for 4 hours, only to have two defective replacements in a row. How does the company expect us to produce consistent results when all of our parts are defective to begin with; or even getting them in reasonable time frame for that matter? To add further insult, we are not supplied proper working tools; we have to buy our USB sticks, screwdrivers and what not. I have worked at numerous PC repair shops before and every placement had proper tools supplied to me. There is also management issues with my fellow employees in the production area as well, every technician in the front of the production line are “cherry picking” their computers to work with. They would take only the good condition computers and give us the units that are in serious need of repairs to us technicians in the back of the assembly line. Sadly, not all these beat up units are as bad as they think it is. Some just need a simple side panel cover replacement or a RAM upgrade, which shows the laziness of our production team. As previously stated in above, obtaining replacement parts is such a hassle that our production times would greatly suffer. I would constantly get beat up units because the entire production line is only concerned with numbers; this was further demonstrated when I reported this to my supervisor who showed no concerned to correct this; after all, I was the only one that would actively fix broken units without complaint and was acting under the pretense of doing my job. When I was still attending College, my professor taught me a valuable lesson on the concept of stereotype, “All stereotypes are half-truths”, this means that our stereotypical belief of certain group, race, etc. , all have some form of logical reasoning. While I do not like making observations based on stereotypes, after all these years, I can say without doubt that my professor had the right idea. The people here are impolite, mismanaged and are lazy workers. I recommend watching the 1986 movie, “Gung Ho”, staring Michael Keaton, a comedy genre mocking the typical working environment of a Blue Collared worker for a good idea of what my working environment is really like. The employees here have numerous bad habits that have greatly negatively affected the working area. Specifically sanitary habits, these people here do not flush the toilet, leave the water tap running when not in use, and intentionally clog the sink with wet paper towels. This has effectively creating a breeding ground for bacteria. In a period of 3 years, I have broken my record of getting sick more than my childhood years combined. These are all basic etiquette that we should have learned during our childhood. You would not treat your own house like this, would you? Parking in my company is akin to going to war, people do not respect each other and just park wherever they want to. I could not reverse my car out when it was home time because there was another car belonging to sales member parked in my rear. On final issue to take note of, there is NO AIR CONDITIONING in the production area. During the hot summer, expect to sweat like mad because all you will be provided is fans, nothing more. Overall, this company has major issues for the blue collared section; things are a lot better if you were to be employed in the white collared position as there is much a better chance for career advancement. I understand that the economy is crap and we would have to take any jobs we can get to make ends meet, but when you are putting your health at risk, no amount of money will be worth the gains. I cannot in good faith recommend being employed by this company.

Vantaggi

Significant opportunity to advance your income, since the company strives to promote personal sales growth, account development and overall success within the company. Majority of personnel are there to help, result oriented individuals and understand the day-to-day struggles of starting a sales career . Keep your friends close as mentioned in my title.

Svantaggi

Insiders club stigma throughout the company. High revenue accounts get distributed unevenly. The tenured account managers get the best territories yielding higher sales figures/higher income for those reps. Extremely high turnover rate for junior sales reps and limited training and support to help one excel. Income fluctuates based on seasonal sales figures.

Very nice employees. The company wide events are fun! its ok to drinking alcohol on your breaks & lunches as long as its with staff. you have so much free time sometimes employees get to take Uber Customers during their shift because you're never missed and no one cares as long as your work is done.

Svantaggi

Very Very high employee Turnover! Very Low salary and pay. No sick days. Management will takes all the credit. Zero career progression or promotions. Management blames employees for their mistakes. Management has little to no employee engagement. Management favorite employees are treated differently than everyone else.
