There is a long, long trail of sour relationships and burned bridges with former employees and partners of this company. Consider yourself warned. Management makes decisions without consulting employees, even though the employees have experience actually doing the work and management only does outside sales. Decisions are erratic. Management forgets about decisions weeks after they are made and work returns to normal. Little money is invested in technology or technological infrastructure. For example - even though a large amount the work is to conduct trainings at outside clients, the company has only one projector and will not spend money to fix the light bulb in the second projector. In addition, the computer you bring to client visits is about 6 years old, slow and clunky. The atmosphere coming from the top of the company is toxic. Even though all of the work you do can be done remotely, management requires employees stay in the office from 8 to 5pm so they can monitor them. You will be micromanaged, mistrusted, underpaid and diminished. There is no room for growth. There are better companies you can work for that do this kind of work.

We acknowledge that there were issues you have raised, such as strained relationships, decision-making processes, and technological investments. Over the past two years, our management team has worked diligently to address these challenges and create a positive and collaborative work environment. We have improved our communication to ensure that decisions are made with a thorough understanding of employees' perspective and experience. Regarding technology and infrastructure, we have invested significantly both in improving the equipment on hand (computers, projectors, etc.) as well as in access to modern tools and cloud based software to provide our employees with what they need to work comfortably. Creating a supportive work atmosphere is of utmost importance to us. While our previous policy required in-office presence every day, we are now a hybrid workplace. We have found that our employees appreciate the flexibility to work from home when they are working on a project that requires a block of quiet time or after site visits that are closer to their home than the office. We have also learned that a fully remote workplace is not conducive to the enjoyment and professional growth of our team because so much learning and forming of long term professional connections happens when working together in one location. We have found that a hybrid work schedule balances these competing priorities well. Thanks for sharing how you found the overall atmosphere to be in the past. This is definitely not the current state of affairs and a core CDMS value is to create an inclusive and positive work environment where every employee feels valued and has the opportunity to thrive. I worked at CDMS for 4.5 years with no EHS background and it was the best place to start out my career. They trained me to be an expert extremely quickly. It is overwhelming at first but the results came in time and it was worth it. Compared to people who work for companies with an internal EHS team, my knowledge and ability is likely comparable to people with 20 years of experience due to seeing so many projects as a consultant. Pay goes up dramatically once fully trained and exceeds industry standards. In my time at CDMS, I got to see a huge variety of projects, got to see how a lot of different industries operate and met many fantastic people. Once trained, the job is extremely flexible.

Since pay is based on productivity once a project manager is fully trained, hustle culture is prevalent. This means, that for project managers, the job is best for people with certain personality profiles. Mainly, people who are relatively outgoing to deal with clients, hard working to keep up with productivity, and independent since each project manager is fully in charge of their own projects. If a new project manager has a hard time learning a lot of information or is generally slow, it can be discouraging. Typically the first 3-6 months, me and most other project managers I saw join didn't know if they would be able to learn everything they needed to learn and do everything they needed to do.

We're continually improving our onboarding and training processes to ensure that new team members are not only well-prepared for their responsibilities but also receive ongoing support throughout their careers at CDMS. Automating job operations to streamline processes and reduce manual workload is a priority for us. In addition to working on improving our systems, we are also hiring team members to assist the EHS Project Managers with a lot of the routine work.
