They finally left the Stone Ages with sick pay, and a few other benefits they’ll bring up constantly just so you forget how little has actually changed. You should be grateful for the bare minimum - or at least that’s how they make you feel.

They’ll bring new staff in on higher salaries than existing staff doing the same or an enhanced role. Pay rises don’t even touch the increase in inflation, hence why you should come in on the great salary and run as soon as the beginning of the new financial year. You WILL make more money elsewhere doing the same or less work.
Wouldn’t ask about career progression because you will just be told “No.”.
In summary, I wouldn’t stick around longer than you have to.
