It is not too difficult to make a switch between various roles and departments in the company, i.e. between business development and operations, financial control, implementations and operational excellence. Just as long as you manage your career, know what you want and actively make yourself visible and known.

Opportunities come either by surprise or you have to create them yourself. There's no career planning set out. Corporate can be stubborn for the sake of standardization, comply, convince or get out. Strategy downdrill to departmental and personal goals is not very mature, leading to diverse and disconnected strategies and activities.
