Salary- In 2013, (middle) managers shared our "percent of fair market value" with some employees during annual appraisal; most hovered with a couple percentage points of 50%. Executive mgmt. is PROUD of that. Promotions- depending upon timing, forget about getting your new full salary. Two salary increases are not permitted in the same year, so they pro-rate the new salary if you already got an annual appraisal raise. Focus is entirely (yes, I mean entirely) on "metrics;" their quaint and deceptive way of saying production quotas. Vastly different standards for work at home (WAH) staff; for instance an in-office employee who is working at 100-119% of productivity is MEETING the production goal. A work at home employee must achieve 115-139% of productivity goal to MEET goal. WAH must make-up travel time for mandatory in-office meetings. WAH employees have to make up SYSTEM downtime. There is no benefit to being an exempt employee. There IS a benefit to the company, though: professional staff work more than 40 hours --no overtime pay-- if department metrics have not been achieved. Benefits expensive. PTO is paltry; as someone else said:11.5 hrs for 5 years, then to 15.5. Company offers better and less expensive health insurance coverage to non-employees. Very high out of pocket medical care maximum; almost $7000 for an individual. In- or out- patient mental health requires pre-auth; out-patient office visits, etc., do not require pre-auth. Bereavement leave is limited to TWO days. Annual 401k special distributions when company has done well in the previous year are not vested for two years. Think about that: any distribution you get in the 2 years prior to your resignation / retirement / termination are not yours. In most cases, you will use your 30-minute lunch period or make up the time you spend attending any holiday / dept / company "events." If you're WAH, you'll make up that time, too. Did I mention that employees may be invited to provide the food (potluck)? Unstable working platform (Citrix); constant adjustment and changes that mess up ability to work along smoothly but production goals must still be met. Employees are expendable & be replaced, and have been told as much. OTOH, giving to their chosen charities is of paramount importance. +/- 10 emails in one day from mgmt encouraging participation; "encouragement" included incentives and heartbreaking stories.
