I was able to negotiate a higher rate for another brief project. I dealt with a different account manager/recruiter and she was very good.

The whole time I had been discussing opportunities with the original recruiter, I said I would take nothing less than a 12 month contract. He insisted the contract I eventually got was 18 months. When I arrived on the job, I found out that it was 6 month...actually, slightly less. The account manager tried to cover up by saying that I could transition to another role at the same client, but there was no guarantee. Lesson learned...verify contract length with hiring manager and don't trust the recruiter!
