There are some genuinely good people working here--both young and old. But both the age groups are bullied. Young college graduates don't have a choice when offered $10/hr because they need the experience. The older chemists are only awaiting retirement. It's the middle aged people that you will find rare. But the reason being is nonsensical. Experienced chemists know better than to take a job that pays entry level. The explained reason, or excuse really, for the low pay is the company needs to invest in its growth and its future. However, it's oxymoronic to believe that it will have a future with how its current employees are treated. Again, with the attitude that people are replaceable, it's hard to say otherwise without a suitable alternative in hand if you know what I mean. To try to make a living off of $10/hr or $12/hr, which is the offer to all college graduates, is humorous at best. In order to make the same amount of money as entry levels in another company, you would have to work 60 hour work weeks. This pay rate is comparable to flipping burgers at McDonald's--which doesn't even require a college degree. So for what reason did we spend money to go to school for? It's only in retrospect that these facts seem inconceivable and laughable.

The crux of the problem at CS Bio is not in any one person, because no one person can take the blame for what was once a small but honest company to become the large but cold and stoic reality it is today. What is going on can only be described as a disease. It's implied that everyone and anyone is dispensable and replaceable, regardless what your position is--despite what the propaganda advertised says. The idea is if you won't stand for the verbal and mental abuse, someone else will. Moreover, this mentality is spread throughout the company as part of its culture--hence the usage of the word disease.
