I had a good experience while working at CAISO and feel my career advanced forward better than expected. I worked in the Critical Systems Support group supporting over 50 applications used in running the Energy Grid and Market. The expectations of management are reasonable and reflect the heavy workload that often is required to maintain a complex system.

There is a clear divide between Contractors and Regular Employees. About 1/3 of the workforce is Contractors with Full-Time positions rarely becoming available. Sometimes this tended towards a culture of "Tribal Knowledge" which made ramping-up in some areas difficult.
