Most of the people at senior levels lack knowledge of current technologies. They assign projects in the latest tech stacks but have no real understanding of them, and there’s no one to properly guide you. If you flatter your seniors or laugh at their jokes, you’ll get a huge hike. But if you’re hardworking, focus only on your job, and stay away from office politics and gossip, you won’t get any recognition or raise. Some managers are extremely toxic — if they don’t like you personally, they’ll claim you lack skills and reduce your hike for absurd reasons. There’s zero flexibility now; even work-from-home policies have become very strict, and you’re required to come to the office five days a week. If you get a better offer and resign, no matter how much you’ve contributed, you’ll be treated badly. Earlier, the salary was quite low, but it has improved a little now. The funny part is that new joiners are getting almost double the salary you’re earning.
