Workload management is one of the biggest issues. There’s a constant stream of “urgent” tasks, many of which aren’t urgent at all. Instead of thoughtful prioritization, everything is pushed onto employees with little clarity and no regard for workload. Managers often distribute work unevenly by giving heavier, more stressful tasks to employees they don’t favor, while their preferred team members receive noticeably lighter workloads.
There is also a troubling pattern of quarterly layoffs, which creates ongoing uncertainty and negatively impacts morale. What makes it worse is the culture around management. Watching managers lay off people on their own teams and then somehow get promoted afterward was honestly one of the most demoralizing things I’ve ever seen in a workplace. It’s hard to feel valued when actions like that are rewarded.
The HR department also adds to the challenges. They frequently seem unprepared to support employees, and there is a noticeable lack of diversity in the individuals they choose to hire.
