Incredibly small "safety" "department" for a company of this size with this level of hazardous work. New projects do not undergo a safety review before asking scientists to work, or at least no safety information about new compounds is communicated to the scientists before starting work. At least once, the safety coordinator said "I'm the safety guy but I'm not a safe guy" to a new employee during onboarding. Upper management and the one safety coordinator won't enforce safety rules to older employees stuck in their hazardous ways of working. Mystery powder and liquids frequently left out on benchtops. There is a dire need for safety improvement here, especially since Cambrex says they have a "strong commitment" to safety.
