Vantaggi
Good exposure to some (but not all) interesting project Met some extremely bright people (most of these don't last, leave or are forced to look elsewhere) Clients come first. Literally everybody will drop everything they're doing to serve clients need (although this will reflect bad on all other areas)
Svantaggi
Highly political Lack of budget/vision Low paid projects Highly hierarchical Project Managers will literally owe your life when on project (that includes personal time which you won't get left much of...) If you don't fit to the mould *which keeps changing* you are forced to leave or simply get stuck at the same level Money hungry / resource poor Sudden and constant change of direction. Every single day! Most of the key decision makers have been there for 15-20 years, they take all decisions making very hard to come up with new ideas to be innovative People get busy for the sake of it Perception of workload counts more than actual delivery Promotion and career advancement based on likeability factor Resourcing team (who are in charge of assigning available resources to incoming projects) are a waste of space. An AI bot could do their jobs 20x better. Internal projects to show the Sr. Management that people are busy by creating propsotions documents that go nowhere High pressurised work environment (ie.: 12-14 hrs weekdays and weekends as expected but not paid) Bullying and belittling thought normal Wanna play catch up with Big 4 but don't pay the money or have the strategy not the same clients Had to rebrand to keep up with timing and due to bad reputation French managed (locally managed without bigger picture) completely divorced from other countries Poor management choices badly communicated Huge part of organisation is in India contingent Due to lack of management/ understanding of each individual skill-set as a consultant you may end up on a completely unfamiliar project/company/industry/client oftentimes all at the same time.
