Vantaggi

work/life balance ability to work remotely when you need to no one is waiting to see if you get in right at 9 a.m. Friendly people Opportunities to move--to different departments--all you have to do is ask

Svantaggi

"It's not about actually reaching the end goal, it's about showing me the process with how you are thinking through getting there" If that makes sense to you, then you will have a very long and successful career at Capital One. If you are left wondering how you can show your process when there is no end goal and why you wouldn't want to have an end goal in the first place--then you should proceed with caution. It's an endless cycle of creating decks and having meetings to prove that you are "thinking" and "producing" but little to no actual work ever gets completed. Long-termers seem perfectly content with this set up. However, it can be maddening to goal oriented people. It's also a very political environment. Bonus are based on what essentially are gossip sessions between everyone who is at a level above you. Losing out on $10K in a bonus can often occur because you didn't say hi to someone when you passed them in the parking garage at the end of the day. This creates an every man for himself situation in many of the departments.

Vantaggi

Some of the smartest individuals in their fields. The focus is always “forward” and the company is willing to adopt new tech to stay ahead for the purposes of the company’s (key word there) benefit. Great PTO and benefits.

Svantaggi

The company’s drive to keep itself moving forward has caused it to regress in other aspects. As a leading tech company first, and leading bank second, it’s embarrassing what their stance is on hybrid and remote work. The company can easily accommodate remote options for their employees not near main offices, but chooses not to. I am relocating to a major city with no major CapOne presence and their response was “too bad, either fly up weekly or you’ll be terminated for not meeting the hybrid requirements”. It’s embarrassing because most of my week is remote anyways. I wonder how many current and past employees have been impacted, and I’m worried about how much talent they’ll be pushing away in the coming years.
