Vantaggi

1) Good pay and benefits 2) Good vacation/time off 3) Good flex time and work/life balance 4) Beautiful campus with basketball, gym, tennis and walking trails 5) Richmond has low cost of living PLUS great schools and very little commute time

Svantaggi

- terrible performance management system - most people leave because of this- - high stress and competative environment - got to watch your back - tons of bueracracy and unnecessary process especially in IT - If you lose your job there is nothing else in Richmond and you have to move to DC or other big metros - Management is cutting pay and benefits - no raises in past 3 years, 401K cut down, training slashed, and hundreds of jobs gone offshore. You make one mistake and you are out, labelled as a "poor performer".

Vantaggi

Capital One is a tech-first company. Most of the latest tech skills, tools, and practices are implemented. Most teams have interesting work where you learn and get to apply your skills.

Svantaggi

Often, the new development work is assigned to the full-time employees. Access to many of the tools is also restricted to the FT employees

Vantaggi

Some of the smartest individuals in their fields. The focus is always “forward” and the company is willing to adopt new tech to stay ahead for the purposes of the company’s (key word there) benefit. Great PTO and benefits.

Svantaggi

The company’s drive to keep itself moving forward has caused it to regress in other aspects. As a leading tech company first, and leading bank second, it’s embarrassing what their stance is on hybrid and remote work. The company can easily accommodate remote options for their employees not near main offices, but chooses not to. I am relocating to a major city with no major CapOne presence and their response was “too bad, either fly up weekly or you’ll be terminated for not meeting the hybrid requirements”. It’s embarrassing because most of my week is remote anyways. I wonder how many current and past employees have been impacted, and I’m worried about how much talent they’ll be pushing away in the coming years.
