Remote work if you live outside of NY office (beyond 50miles)

Dear Catalyst Leaders, Since there is no psychological safety to share this with my manager, on team calls or town hall I am trying this approach and joining many other voices in this forum who have done the same. Last year you laid off 17 Catalyst colleagues and we asked why? On Sept 11th you announced a policy change to hybrid work for NY staff working within 50miles. Again we asked, why? You have now in two acts contributed to the following 1) exacerbated a culture of fear 2) set Catalyst back as a leader at the forefront of flexible and remote work. I can't help but wonder what Dr. Claudia Goldin would think of us now. It makes me wonder if you even bothered to review our own research ahead of this misguided change. Review '10 models of workplace flex' or 'remote work options can boost productivity and curb burnout.' There was a time I was proud to represent Catalyst and our research. We have always been trusted by organizations as a leader in the future of work space. Now we seem to be followers and not in a good way. This was validated by our own CEO who in a recent town hall indicated we are following other organizations. How sad. Today it is clear. Catalyst exists as just another consulting firm prioritizing revenue growth at all costs.
