Recognition depends on visibility: Employees who post frequent updates or stay highly visible tend to be recognized more, regardless of the impact of their actual work. Quiet contributors are often overlooked. High time commitment: The startup environment demands long hours and flexibility, especially during peak payroll periods (December–January). Nights and weekends are common in some roles. Not ideal for those balancing family or other personal responsibilities. Recent layoffs and shifting priorities: The company has had two rounds of layoffs, in 2022, and most recently in 2025. These cuts affected many experienced team members, with a move toward offshoring and hiring more junior roles.
