Vantaggi

Some talented colleagues who genuinely care about their work.

Svantaggi

• The workplace culture at Checkr is toxic and heavily political, especially within Operations. If the VP and Senior Director of Ops don’t favor you, you’re likely to lose your job quickly. They only hire their buddies from previous companies and are very clicky. • Checkr promotes a high performance culture but fails to reward employees accordingly. Merit increases are minuscule, often capped at 1.5%. Management is discouraged from giving higher performance ratings to limit salary increases, which fosters dissatisfaction and demotivation among employees. In fact, during the recent layoffs in April, they managed to let go of high performers after shoving it down our throats that high performance was the best way to prove our worth. • There's a lack of transparency in decision-making processes, particularly regarding performance evaluations and career progression.

Vantaggi

Unlike many places where AI is just a buzzword, Checkr is deeply investing in real applications that solve complex problems. We aren’t just talking about it; we’re shipping it. The commitment to AI enablement is tangible. We have access to the latest tools like Cursor and Bugbot, which significantly streamlines our workflows and keeps the focus on creative problem-solving rather than boilerplate. If you enjoy "hard" problems, this is the place. Dealing with data at scale here provides a level of complexity that keeps you sharp and constantly learning. The culture is easily one of the best I’ve experienced. You’re working with incredibly smart, grounded individuals who genuinely care about the mission and each other.

Svantaggi

Like any company that has scaled rapidly over several years, we have our fair share of tech legacy. It can be a hurdle when trying to move at lightning speed. While the new leadership is focusing in cleaning up the architecture through targeted engineering investments, we aren't out of the woods yet. It requires patience and a "builder" mindset to help pave the new path.
