Very informative and gratifying experience where you will serve the local community. Interns do a little bit of everything, so you'll see multiple different types of work when it comes to serving the local immigrant and refugee community.

Things tend to get a bit more hectic if more clients are moving to the area.

The local office leadership was supportive, approachable, and genuinely invested in employee well-being. My supervisors fostered a collaborative environment where staff felt respected and empowered to serve clients effectively. I appreciated the opportunity to work alongside dedicated colleagues who cared deeply about the communities we served.

While my local office was incredibly supportive, my experience with national leadership was much less positive. Employee concerns and grievances did not always feel like they were taken seriously, particularly when they involved leadership issues. There was ongoing uncertainty around maintaining the current pay rate and hybrid work flexibility, which affected morale. I also felt that employee efforts to advocate for workplace improvements were discouraged rather than welcomed. Overall, there was a noticeable disconnect between the organization's mission and some employees' internal experiences.
