Vantaggi

Nice office. Good atmosphere. Nice coworkers. Not afraid to invest in resources of try new ideas. Coffee, snacks, birthday celebrations. Milestone celebrations. Their Director of Operations is an absolute all-star - he's the best in the business.

Svantaggi

Full-disclosure - I was terminated from my position, so obviously my review will appear "tainted." But I'm basing everything on fact, not opinion. Regarding job security: I left a long-term job for ClassicCars.com, then was let go after 3 months (with no severance). It turns out I was the 4th person in my position in the past 2 years. After I left they hired - then fired - my replacement. During my time there, they hired someone for another position - and that person was let go within 2 weeks. At some point you have to think that maybe it's not the employee... Regarding meetings: I had 13 standing meetings every week. Very difficult to get business done when you're constantly in meetings - And that doesn't include the 3-4 impromptu meetings that were called on top of the standing meetings. Seemingly everyone there was given the power to call a meeting. What an absolute time-suck. Recruiting great candidates was a challenge. The company is located in the far corner of the Valley, which is convenient for the owner, but eliminated a significant number of potential candidates because of the commute distance. And even when a candidate was willing to make the commute, the owner was reluctant to move forward with anyone who lived too far away. As a result, the talent pool was narrowed down to candidates residing in or near the Ahwatukee Foothills. A nice place to live, but not exactly the epicenter of top talent. Late nights are the norm. Managers would typically be there until 7:00-7:30 on a Friday night. The owner is an empty-nester and this company is his baby, so it's understandable. This makes it tough, however, if you've got a family.

Thank you for your comments. We recognize the importance of job security to our employees and it is unfortunate that things did not work out for you here. We are very appreciative of our employees and we strive to provide them with a good atmosphere to work in, as you noted in your comments. You also mentioned that we are not afraid to invest in resources or try new ideas. This focus on excellence has resulted in our being recognized nationally as an industry leader, including a spot on the Inc. 5000 and a #2 ranking of our Classic Car News blog among the Top 100 Most Influential Automotive Blogs in the US. Moreover, we now lead the classic and collector vehicle market with a monthly audience exceeding 2.5 million visitors to our marketplace – all in 2015! We simply couldn’t have done that without our outstanding team, many of whom live in Ahwatukee where there are many other successful businesses and the talent pool is top-notch! To say that we screen our applicants based on location is inaccurate. In fact, we have several team members who commute from other parts of the Valley, including Scottsdale, Apache Junction and Queen Creek. For certain roles, we offer flexible work schedules in order to bring the right skills and expertise to our team. Also, as part of encouraging a healthy work-life balance for our employees we ensure that it is only on very rare occasions that a project dictates that certain employees work late. It is by no means the norm. We, of course, can always improve and we continually evaluate our recruitment and hiring process. ClassicCars.com hires, retains and promotes all teammates on the basis of merit, qualifications and competence and we have successfully promoted many employees from within the company who continue to grow and thrive within their new roles.

Vantaggi

- Pay is decent. - There are monthly luncheons to celebrate employee birthdays, as well as PTO, health/dental/vision insurance.

Svantaggi

- Although we are not hired on as marketing or sales employees, we are expected to sell featured upgrades to an audience of people that don't even know how to use the Internet, let alone a computer, easily. The unrealistic outcomes of this can result in termination of perfectly good employees that actually had potential within the company. - Employees gossip frequently about others at this place. If you don't fit into their "mold", expect to be talked about on the regular. This is especially true in regards those in the Customer Support department. - Management plays favorites with employees. They could be doing something that could get someone else yelled at or disciplined and still get away with it with a slap on the wrist. - Training is inadequate and the methods are outdated. The business has gone through a lot of changes since its inception in 2007, so therefore processes must be altered accordingly. Rather than doing this, they wait until someone is hired on and makes a mistake to decide to make changes. - There were things that I was NEVER taught when I was hired on at this company that were essential to my success there. It took being disciplined and treated like I was dumb/stupid to realize they were in the wrong from the start. - Overall uncomfortable work environment.
