Vantaggi
They have connections to always receive students ie American Airlines Cadet Academy, Texas State University, and part time students for training. You will have students. You will get your hours quickly if you want to.
Svantaggi
You will be management's work slave for the entirety of your time. They bend the rules and policies to get what they need out of you. Most recently, they wanted all weather cancels to be approved by management, essentially not trusting the pilot's decision and possibly forced to fly in sketchy weather. You won't get paid as well here as other flight schools, won't get a pay increase unless you are a check airman, MEI or 2 year. You will work 10-12 hour days, 6 days a week, until they decide to go back to 5 days a week. Your events will be looked at under a microscope. If the site director does not like you, you will have a horrid time trying to get anything adjusted on your schedule, time off requests, overall just being condescending and rude, etc. There are no steps for employee discipline and many people have been demoted or fired without any kind of written warnings. The chief of the San Marcos location does not have the respect to be straight with you regarding any issues. He won't even be honest with applicants about hiring (ie will hire a brand new CFI but then tell the next applicant they aren't hiring those without experience when really it's because they aren't a good fit). Overall, management sucks at this company and will make your life difficult. Do yourself a favor and try not to care that much about this job, and you will do ok. Get your flight hours and leave. To them, you are a number and a means for them to make money.
