Vantaggi
Remote-first. The only office is in San Francisco, CA. Company provides a laptop and a home office stipend. Stock options for US employees. My department and manager were stellar - zero complaints. The pay is fantastic, and the company does various yearly company events that you can attend if you are in the relevant department. Hotel is paid for and they reimburse for travel and per diem. Complete open door policy - everyone can talk to everyone, C Suite included. Very diverse - many international employees. Rewards points system that you can use to purchase things from an online catalog. The catalog is limited, but the points costs aren't ridiculous. For example, with only 10 points or so, I was able to buy an 8-movie DVD set. I've also gotten a pots & pans set, a personal heater, and a floor fan. I had less than 200 points in my 2.5 years at the company.
Svantaggi
It's still a startup, things change. There was a round of layoffs in 2025. Not every department has the same policies, such as response times internally and externally. This can be frustrating. Advancement in this specific role is almost nonexistent simply because there's nothing to advance to at the current time. And in my opinion, the road to promotion/pay raise involves labor exploitation. I.e.: "do A LOT of extra work (but we're not going to tell you how much) for 6 months to a year, and if it's in the budget, we'll consider if you're worthy of a raise." Newer employees may be hired with a higher salary than you, regardless of experience. Work/life balance is only great if you know how to say no and mean it.
