They hire you as a contractor to limit your benefits/paid time off/labor rights and so they can make your wages seem 15% bigger by shifting taxes onto you. Your concerns will be dismissed. One time they gave a lecture about the difference between how safe we feel and how safe we actually are, and that they don’t care how we feel because they know better about whether you’re actually safe; this was meant to be an inspirational pep talk by the way.
