Vantaggi
-Plenty of opportunities for optional overtime.
-Wide diversity in shifts from early morning(7a-3p), afternoon(3p-11p), overnight(11p-9a), and others depending on the house.
-Schedules tend to be firm so you can make future plans without worrying about your schedule.
-Meals are provided
- It can be pretty rewarding to make a positive difference in the individuals lives.
- No better way to put it than you get paid to go and do stuff with the individuals, like go to the State Fair or out to movies and restaurants, etc.
-Benefits are pretty good, dental especially.
-PTO carries over from year to year up to a certain cap level before getting banked into an emergency sick bank.
Svantaggi
- Due to legal reasons you may be forced to work overtime
- A lot of legal eggshells to walk on
- Almost always short-staffed
- Due to being always short-staffed the only requirement to be hired is to have an average body temperature around 98 degrees, so, staff turnaround is abysmally high.
- Wages are stagnant and raises get further and further apart the longer you work there.
- Holidays off aren't a thing, you just get paid time and a half. But you can't stack that with overtime pay, you only get one and the rate is the same.
-PTO sick bank is completely unusable until all PTO is used up and are still unable to return to work.
- Mandatory trainings can and will mess up your schedule and are almost never at an ideal time for everyone involved.
