Compass hires such a great and diverse group of people! There are people from so many different professional and cultural backgrounds that you really get to learn so much. I truly loved working with my office and regional marketing colleagues. The agents, for the most part, are really great and appreciative of all the work you do.

If you are an agent facing employee, you are basically treated like dirt by upper management. You are barely even given a desk to work at. Compass hides (or at least did) behind good benefits to make up for the fact that there is no such thing as work/life balance and zero structure. Most offices only have one staff member from each department (Marketing, Agent Success, IT) and with that have very little assistance for day-to-day tasks. Employees are expected to never say no, so when there are constant requests and very little support it leads to employees being stretched thin and very stressed. When you express this stress to upper management they just say it's how the industry is and encourage you to be a team player rather than providing any actual help. In most cases, employees are the last to know about company initiatives that ultimately impact them and their workload. This leave the employees looking like idiots when agents come to them asking for things they know nothing about and are expect to just roll with it. As someone who was a part of the mass layoff in the beginning of the COVID-19 shutdown, it really showed how little the company valued their employees. They did the layoff 1 week into the mandatory WFH and in a last minute Monday morning video call with 50 people. They provided very little information or explanation during the call and even less afterward. As you can expect we were all in shock and hoped we would get some kind of email from HR or upper management afterward, but that did not happen, they just shut off our access at the end of the day and that was it. The CEO sent a mass email to all agents and employees briefly mentioning the layoff, but couldn't be bothered to send something to the people actual effected to show a little respect. No one from upper management reached out to show some sense of decency. It was the biggest slap in the face and the most disrespect I have ever felt from a company.
