There is no one at this company who is coasting, everyone is competent and invested in providing the best product and service to clients and in each other's success. It's a small company so you get to know your coworkers well. If you have ideas for fun culture-building outings or activities leadership will support them. A great balance of structured work with freedom to explore and grow. Can't recommend Competiscan enough as an early/mid career option.

The company is a little confused whether it's in a growth phase or is trying to maintain the status quo. There is a lot of potential with future products and with the team in place, continue to trust their initiatives.

The hours were good: Mon - Fri 8 to 4:30 p.m. with a 45-minute lunch you can take whenever you want. Good location downtown on Michigan Ave. Fellow ground-level employees are helpful and encouraging. Opportunities for new tasks seem ample--I was only there for a couple months but still gained new responsibilities. Processes are very polished with clear directives.

It's an assembly-line atmosphere where you're judged only on your quantitative production. At the end of the day you log your numbers and send to your supervisor. The office is often dead-silent with the exception of the CEO loudly talking to his secretary or other managers, which creates an awkward climate. Face-to-face interactions with your supervisor or other colleagues are rare. Employees will be scolded if even one minute late. It's the ultimate clock-in/clock-out job where literally everyone departs at 4:30 on the dot. You can't even wear headphones when doing menial work until you've "earned" the privilege (which starts with one ear only). They have odd initiatives to try to motivate the team which feel patronizing (e.g. on MLB Opening Day they "let" people wear baseball caps). It's a tense, stressful environment where you feel under the gun every minute of business hours.
