Great PR and marketing. Having a marketing team is actually helpful when it comes to events. Marketing helps on-site customer culture. Good company culture when it comes to friday drinks and parties (before covid). Most of senior engineers and technical principals actually know what they're doing and are very fun to work with. I personally interviewed many of the current technical principals and senior cloud leads - the talent team does listen when red flags qualifies candidates out.

When a real challenge shows up, standing up for what is right for the customer results in massive backlash from sales people, HR and the "senior" leadership team. This results to squads giving up to mediocrity. You're only listened if you comply to sales and PR groupthink. Complete political $$-minefield if you decide to fight for your customer. Fighting internally for your customer is a death sentence. At the end of the day, nothing more than a "cool" body shop disguised as boutique consulting. Do not sign for a perm position. If you want to join, go for a high rate contact. Contino sells you @ twice your $/h rate - make it count. After acquired by Cognisant it's not rare to see dozens of randoms that can't even mute a mic showing up to zoom calls as part of your squad. Covid remote work policies are very selective and used against full time employees. Do not join if you expect Covid common sense.

We pride ourselves on being a business who values and appreciates our people. In fact this was exemplified by our recent engagement survey where we scored 92% as voted by our people. We recognise that there is always room for improvement, which is why our communication is driven by authenticity and transparency. We also recognise that the world of consulting is a challenging one and is not always the right fit for everyone. Our unique squad model has been purposefully designed to bring together team members from all facets and functions of the organisation to ensure that our customers are in receipt of a quality outcome every time. The combination of skill sets our squads bring to a customer means that we encourage diversity of thought and expect our teams to respectfully challenge each other's thinking in order to ensure the customer receives the right outcome every time. We do not favour our sales community any more than we do our technical - because we are well aware that without one, the other will not be successful. We provide our customers with an outstanding level of service and as such we pay our people well within industry benchmarks, additionally the level of benefits on offer are in excess of most in the market. It is worth clarifying that as with all organisations, contractors are paid a premium as they are not eligible for the same benefits or security as a permanent employee. With respect to your comment regarding COVID remote working policies, our team has been working remotely since March 2020, and while our offices have recently opened for voluntary return, all team members have been advised that remote working continues to remain available to them. To date, not one team member has been requested or told otherwise and there is no change to our stance on remote working in the foreseeable future.

Contino was a great place to grow early in my career. My role was a mix of system administration, security operations, and IT support, which gave me a solid foundation in cybersecurity. The team truly empowers those around them, and the People team is one of the most supportive and engaged I’ve worked with.

I was based in the U.S. while most of my direct IT/Security Ops team was located in the U.K., which made it challenging at times to find a fully engaged mentor who had direct insight into my day-to-day work and could provide consistent guidance or recommendations.

Sharp people, great work/life balance. Positive work environment for employees at the consultant level and below.

Very high turnover at the AP/Director level. Most AP's did not stay more than a year even before Cognizant's acquisition. The US team's growth failed to meet expectations and was integrated into the parent company as a result. Leadership fostered a backstabbing culture at the executive level that exacerbated as the US region of the company was integrated into Cognizant. Cognizant's staff augmentation approach to consulting was incompatible with Contino's entrepreneurial culture. Eventually the team was crushed with only a few shattered remnants remaining. I was surprised and dismayed to see the entire leadership team going at each other's throats in the end, eventually resulting in most leaving or being let go. A very sad end to what originally had very high potential.
