On March 9, 2023, ConvergeOne leadership sent a very impersonal email to employees of an acquired company that their bonuses (20% of annualized salary) that had been promised to them would not be paid on the target date of March 10, 2023. Less than 24 hours' notice was given that hard-working employees would not receive a significant portion of their total comp. Countless times, C1 leadership communicated with the former ownership and senior leadership of the acquired company that the bonuses would remain intact for 2021 and 2022 to be paid out in March 2022 and March 2023, respectively. The bonuses were paid out in March 2022 for 2021, but they were reduced to 0% for March 2023 citing missed targets. The missed targets were due to lack of cooperation from the account managers and sales org at C1 to offer/sell the services offered by the acquired company, services that are considerably more forward thinking, cloud-oriented, and revenue generating than the Avaya phones and Cisco hardware the company is losing a few hundred million dollars on. Consider Avaya's recent bankruptcy announcement. All of this comes on the heels of a huge Sales Kick-Off that took place in Dallas, for which C1 rented out large spaces, purchased food, paid for airfare and food, covered lodging for employees, and hosted large parties.

Problems get patched instead of fixed. The same issues show up over and over across processes, systems (CRM and ERP), and roles because root causes are ignored Sales has too much control over how things operate. Strong, scalable solutions get blocked if they do not align with how sales wants to structure a deal even when it is not in the company’s best interest. This a a sign of a desperate Sales team. There is an overemphasis on closing deals at any cost, without enough accountability for the full revenue lifecycle. Revenue quality matters, not just getting something in the door Leadership concerns are not new, are constantly talked about on Glassdoor and internally and they are ignored. There is a real need for stronger accountability, clearer direction, and leaders who are willing to make tough decisions. The tough decisions include looking closely at members of C-Suite and their failed impact.
