Vantaggi
Great team and co-workers. Lower/Mid level management were amazing and they did all they could to support their people within the confines of what they were limited to under CorVel as a whole. Claim loads were not bad compared to other similar companies. Compensation seemed pretty competitive at the time. Great mix of women and men in management. Definitely an environment women are encouraged to excel and move up in their careers with lots of support from co-workers/management.
Svantaggi
It seemed the higher leadership was a little out of touch with the majority of employees and what they needed to achieve a reasonable work/life balance. In order to be on the companies health plan (which was astronomically expensive at the time, I sincerely hope it's better now) you had to do a biometric screening. I found this to be very invasive. They explain this by saying it's a way of showing concern for employee's health, however, the fact that your results had a direct affect on how much you paid in medical leads me to believe otherwise. I got my own private insurance instead, the cost/coverage was about the same. I just don't see why my employer needs to know what my cholesterol and BMI are. Overall, I felt supported by my co-workers and immediate managers, but beyond that I didn't feel supported by CorVel as a company at all. I was another peg filling a hole, a hamster running in the wheel, struggling to make ends meet at home as well as at work. Consequently, I was not as effective at my job as I could have. This, of course, has a negative affect on my clients, my managers and myself and can easily spiral out of control.
