Vantaggi

Working with students is fun and rewarding. You get to be a part of their success. You’ll enjoy some of your coworkers and make friends through trauma bonding. You’ll become a more resilient and confident individual as a result of enduring unnecessary amounts of workplace stress and toxicity.

Svantaggi

Overall All of the cons shared in other reviews are accurate in conveying what it is like to work at this company. The owner of this company has no personal values or integrity. He expects employees to follow rules and procedures that do not apply to him or his family members that work for him or have worked for him (extreme nepotism). He will not respect your time and frequently did not show up for scheduled meetings without ever notifying the other attendees that he was not planning on coming or would wait until after the meeting time to share that he’d need to reschedule. As a consultant Driving from home to home to work with students gets exhausting and feels especially draining during summer months; a lot of wear and tear on your vehicle. You are compensated for driving time but expect to put a lot of miles on your car. You’re required to show proof of your own insurance upon interviewing with the company, and note that Cram Crew has no responsibilities or liability if you are in a car accident during your “working” hours. You likely won’t be able to rely on a consistent paycheck because your hours will vary based on ebbs and flows of the school year and your students’ needs/schedules. The owner will have consults with students that you work with and give you 0 information from his conversations with them that would benefit you. Clients assume that he shares all of the information with consultants for the benefit of the students and whatever they’re planning for test preparation or college readiness but you’ll rarely be notified of any changes to the student’s plan if it is discussed between the parents/student and the owner. Furthermore, the owner will sell ANYTHING to clients regardless of if it is feasible or not and then expect you as the consultant to make it happen. And again, he usually does not relay any of these expectations or conversations to you beforehand. You’ll get manipulated into taking on a bigger workload than what you signed up for. In my experience, the owner of the company flattered me into thinking that I’d be a great fit for an extra student that I didn’t have time to work with. He also misrepresented the amount of work the student would need to complete while working with me, and then I had a 2-hour round trip drive to work with this student that I was not compensated for (because you only get compensated for drive time between sessions but not to/from your first or last session. I couldn’t schedule students before/after this specific student because of how far away they lived and the fact that they never knew if they’d need 45 minutes with me or 3 hours). In general, the owner is notorious for taking advantage of the newest employees who don't know any better and talking them into taking more work or students than they can feasibly manage. Working inside the office If this is your first office/professional job, know that this is not representative of what the workforce is actually like. Salaried employees are expected to clock in and out of work (unless you are related to the owner, of course!), and the owner will obsess over your hours more than he’ll ever care about your actual output. I am not sure if this is still the case, but MANY “full time employees” in the office were hourly (not salaried) employees, and the owner would frequently cut hours to where full time employees were working the bare minimum hours to still qualify as a full time employee. The owner would also use this tactic to make employees feel like they were not deserving of more hours because they weren’t doing a good enough job to earn the work. At one point many full time employees were having an entire day eliminated from their weekly schedules. If this happens to you, know that it’s not because you’re doing a poor job but because the owner is actually incapable of making strategic hires that make sense for the company’s payroll and legitimate needs.

Job is easy. People are nice. Overall goal is good.

Compensation and hours are lacking for non-salary. Salaried employees have bad work/life balance. Not enough staffing to keep operations adequately organized.
