You may gain very good industry experience, which will be valuable when you want to move on. The experience you have will depend entirely on the client your are placed with. Unfortunately, you have no choice which client that will be. If you're placed with a good client, you will have the ability to meet great people, work on challenging projects, learn new skills, make friends, and keep a healthy work/life balance.

If you're not placed with a good client. You will be working well over 40 hours each week, you will work weekends, holidays, and nights. Say goodbye to a work/life balance. Some people worked 70-80+ hour weeks all of the time. Although you're paid for the hours you work over 40, you're not paid the overtime rate, just your regular hourly rate. As a Boom Lab consultant, you're inexpensive labor to the client (compared with other consulting firm rates). The client doesn't care if you're overworked and exhausted, and neither does Boom Lab. Boom Lab makes money for every hour you're working at the client. They don't have an incentive to help you restore a work/life balance. They know if you quit, they will fill your position with someone else. That is until that replacement burns out, and the cycle continues. Also - Keep a close eye on your paid time off (PTO). There are a lot of consultants who give their two weeks notice and upon leaving are told they will not be paid the PTO which they earned as part of their compensation.

Severe mismatch between what is sold during recruiting and the reality of project placement. Promised “exciting client work” frequently falls through after months of waiting. Employees are then pressured to interview repeatedly for replacement projects that are significantly lower quality and scope. Even after accepting roles that already feel below market value, candidates can still be rejected from these fallback projects and returned to limbo. The process slowly wears people down and signals a lack of respect for their time and experience. If the firm truly requires highly specialized, senior-level experience, they should not hire broadly and hope projects appear later. Poor planning, poor transparency, and a frustrating recruiting/"hiring" experience overall.
