There was a time when people joined this organization for job security and dignity. Year after year, I have consistently received strong ratings in my annual appraisals, yet it often feels that the organization is unclear about why they hired me in the first place. I am frequently assigned tasks that are outside my core expertise.
Over the last two years, annual appraisal increments have been limited to just 2–3%. After the change in leadership, with the new CEO joining, there has been a noticeable shift in culture—employees at all levels now seem more concerned about job security than performance or growth.
My entire professional background is with OEMs, and I joined this organization with the intent to contribute meaningfully and learn new things. However, my role has been changed three times in three years, leading to a lack of clarity and direction.
Currently, performance and results appear to be secondary. The primary expectation has become mandatory physical presence in the office every day, regardless of role relevance or productivity. Any resistance to this is met with the threat of termination, typically accompanied by an offer of only two months’ base salary.
