Custom Communications is a turnkey organization for contractors to work on higher invoice rates than they could elsewhere for performing the same type of work. Our territory is serviced by 250+ successful technicians scattered from Augusta Georgia to Baltimore Maryland pulling inventory out of 13 warehouses. This is TV and internet so there is available work for hundreds of people 7 days per week, 365 days per year. Yes, it is true our contracted technicians (all of them) run their businesses from their own vehicles and those vehicles are used to drive between their jobs. The primary contract qualifier besides having a clean criminal history is being an insured contractor with an industry standard work van or truck. We celebrate Custom Communications' technicians as they are the best performing satellite technicians in the nation, year after year! We are very proud and thankful for all of the hard work they do, indeed. This achievement however, also does these two important things: 1. It enables us to pay out the highest pay scale in the industry 2. Raises the bar & level of expectation Simply put, it's the second one that makes it so that not everyone is a good fit. Yes, we expect more than the failing competition does. If you want their contact information we are happy to help and even put in a good word for you... it's a big industry in a small world and we wish you the best. A Custom Communications contract rewards those that work well independently & self manage by keeping up with important details like inventory and invoicing. We do not want to waste anybody's time more than they want to waste ours. It is this reason we do our very best to screen folks out to prevent issues with these items specifically. Additionally, we developed a proprietary operating system that allows total transparency between fulfillment providers and our contractors concerning performance metrics, inventory, invoiced labor & every payment ever made... ever. The system is called "Workflow" and v2 is due for release in 2016. No, there are no major operating issues or fixes needed with the current "Workflow". We are simply keeping up with the ever changing online code requirements to keep things moving faster and better... specifically, contractor payments :) Right now it takes about 2.5 weeks to pay out an invoice into a rolling weekly direct deposit... Yes, an improvement from the "old school" industry standard net 30 bi-weekly paper check but maybe with a new "Workflow" we can still do better? We like a good challenge. The system is essentially what our founding CEO wished he could have had when he was a contracting technician often surprised on payday and arriving to chained doors at the warehouse when the fly by night company's of the 90's disappeared conveniently whenever there was an issue with pay. We, however aren't going anywhere. He built in 1998, with a lot of help... Custom Communications, Inc. Brick, mortar, real time transactions all with total transparency... and of course higher pay. We buy or build wherever we go planting the deepest of roots. . So now, with the participation of the user... (some of the expectations mentioned above) Inventory can be managed in real time & invoices post to future deposits in plain sight. This ability has set us apart in the industry and has revolutionized operations at the contractor level! No doubt there is a stigma in the cable related industry in that it's reputation is so often shaped by those that fail. For that, we continue to make strides improving our ability to differentiate between those seeking a contract... from those capable of managing one. ...and to be fair, happy technicians are far too busy enjoying themselves to post online reviews!

You have some money coming in. You have a weekly meeting on Wednesday at 6:00 am going over mostly useless things but can joke with some of the normal people. You can have an actual day off during the week.

Svantaggi

Drive your own vehicle a lot of wear and tear. Start working every single day until you complete 25 jobs. Train for a few weeks on your money, start working and don't get paid until 3 weeks after. Don't expect a paycheck for a while. People who have been there for a while are disgruntle, and annoying to be around. In order to get full pay, you have to have a white van, have all certifications, have an unrealistic customer rating, sell a lot of worthless stuff to customers that they really don't want or need, hook up systems to Internet even if the customers don't even have Internet (of course your to fault for that) Your work day consists of clocking in at 6, waiting around for work, doing the jobs, and a lot of the times the jobs for a trouble call pay garbage and the tech who was there before you did an awful job so your getting really no compensation. In all, you spend a lot of money on stuff, there are a lot of hidden details that you won't be told but need to figure out (they assume you know everything) your working with a lot of crazy people, you get chargebacks, your making barely anything an hour with tools, materials, chargebacks, and how much you have to work to get anything out of it including working every weekend.

Thanks for your feedback. I'm sorry your experience was not a profitable one... this business isn't for everyone. In reading through the "cons" I see opportunities to improve communication and gain some clarity. Vehicle wear and tear...we are very upfront and open about the primary contract qualifier being a work van or truck. There should be no surprise when the time comes to use it (to make money) & as with any other tool or equipment... maintenance is a logical progression from there... as well as the tax benefits that your CPA would do better to explain. Hundreds of companies & thousands of technicians operate similarly by providing their own vehicles... Uber being a recent popular comparison. What separates Custom Communications apart is we are willing to pay you more than anyone else for doing it. The vehicle concern is an industry standard in any contract relationship covering all trades.. In this... Custom is nowhere near alone. Custom does not "Train" contractors period. The way new people are able to get into this business is by utilizing the tens of dozens of senior contractors affiliated with us that are willing to mentor new contractors. Make no mistake we foot the bill... they are as happy to invoice us for the service as we are to pay it. When fully taken advantage of, the opportunity for you to learn a trade that can profit up to $70,000 annually in this case is basically well... free. We have contractors that are able to relocate all over the country using skills they were exposed to in their time fulfilling work for us. Reference review titled "Great Place To Work I had to Relocate..." It does in fact take 3 weeks to receive the first deposit. I've never enjoyed a revenue stream (including even those where I was an employee) that did better. Again, in this case contractors invoice Custom for fulfilling work... from providers that won't pay for another 3-6 weeks until after we pay the technician. I speak for everyone here when I say we take pride in that you received your first payment as scheduled... right at the 3 week mark. In this aspect Custom is at the very least maintaining the industry standard or even doing a little better. I am not the only one who remembers having to regularly "collect" on some unpaid invoices during my time as a contractor before Custom. In order to get full pay... Contractors receive full pay simply by qualifying to run the contract... again the vehicle and insurance. This is all it takes to receive industry standard pay and even slightly better. If achieving "A Level" "Master Technician" is what you are referring to then yes... to receive the highest industry pay far above and beyond anyone else for doing the same work... we logically expect a little more from the technician. To put this into perspective... We hold a handful of different contracts with different major providers.... this is literally the work we route to technicians. Obviously technicians need to be able to complete the work... be certified and cleared, right? This is really a "no brainer" & doesn't call for anything above and beyond yet... but read on. Lastly the SBCA exam (being an industry standard) is required and carries the only cost to technicians concerning certifications. When taken advantage of, the test pays for itself within the first 10 completed invoices. I encourage every new person in this business to complete the $95 online open book exam as soon as they are on their feet and running. It can enable a $20,000 per year increase in revenue, no joke. If you certify just let that sink in a moment... If... Remember nobody is forcing you... while your success is in our best interest and we'll do almost any and everything to help technicians make more money... this is your business. So, if you certify and become able to perform all work order types, & mentor new technicians from time to time... we pay out a lot more money as your score increases. Sometimes even double what the other guys pay. We are unabashedly proud of this achievement and the "Master Technicians" who regularly earn it. The kicker to reality here is that at any given time... Including the elite (the "Master Technicians") 40-50% of Custom Communication's tech force is invoicing at a higher rate than the competition is able to pay. Lastly we share your concerns with improving communication, awareness & finding more good contractors to join in higher pay. Thank you again for your feedback, I wish you the best.
