The pay is terrible and rarely reflects market value either for the position, or the person applying to it. Prepare to be low-balled. Expect to be turned down if you go try and reason with them to reevaluate your salary, short of strong-arming them with an offer elsewhere, in which case, you should just leave anyway. Expect annual raises to be less than 3% unless you are a favorite of one of the executives. PTO includes holidays, which means you have to spend your PTO to take holidays. So if you think you're getting a good PTO amount, think again. They like to say that it is more "flexible", but in reality they're being very CHEAP. There is a solid chance that you won't be doing what you were hired to do, or not doing it at the level you were hired to do it at. It may not even be at the location you were expecting. The "casual" atmosphere doesn't apply to people working in a SCIF, so the flexible dress and flexible schedule doesn't apply as a benefit to everyone. No support from management. They have their head in the clouds trying to just bilk the government for millions every year by billing hours on contracts, so they aren't inclined to help out when requirements by the customer are in conflict with the mission. They just want to ride that gravy train and appease everyone. Requests for training, especially for training in regards to new technologies having to be learned for the job, haven't ever been approved. Even after months of asking. We always get the "just figure it out on your own" and "put your thinking caps on" shtick. CHEAP. There is next to no opportunity to grow, and positions of "leadership" come with all of the responsibility and none of the authority. EVERYTHING is MICROMANAGED. It may look like a casual atmosphere on the outside, but it isn't. They have a remote-work policy that seemingly only applies to the executives, of which they make liberal use of it. The building that Def-Logix rents from on Magic Dr., the "San Antonio Technology Center" is a disgusting building, rarely clean, very unsanitary and doesn't have enough restrooms to support the amount of people working in the building. Also it is in a very suspect part of town, because it is CHEAP. Of the currently 3 rooms that Def-Logix occupies inside the SATC, each one has some offices pre-built inside. Within each "office" is a number of desks crammed together with the exception of the "executive" offices. The entire atmosphere is large, open-concept office environments. This is terrible for people who actually need their own space and quiet to actually work. But its CHEAP. This company is a sham. They have a zillion pet projects they want to work on at the same time, with rarely the talent or skill to complete them. They aren't willing to pay for either. Their business model seems to be collect as many government contracts together as possible, assign under-qualified and/or underpaid personnel to work on them for the job that needs done, and just let them be miserable all the while cashing in on the government.
