Lots of parking. due to lack of staff.

Svantaggi

7 years to reflect on working here. People always say "customer service with DISH isn't what is used to be" That's true, they treat staff like garbage and would rather invest in new employees and pay them less than pay someone that cares and knows their job making more. It was a great company when I first started here. They were so busy and so packed that you had to follow someone to their car to find a place to park. The pay was lower than most but they gave CSR's nice bonus based on upsells. Sometime 2 or more times your regular paycheck. Employees were making more than their Coaches. They had a big ATM (all team meeting) They changed it to $1 per upsell. Trying to convince us how it would be "more fair for everyone" and more people would qualify for bonus. How do you think that worked? Yea we made less money. Oh, but we had pizza or taco day every few weeks to make up for it. In the mean time, you're just a number. How many call backs you've had, how many calls you've taken, how many techs you send how many replacement receivers you have to ship. We're told that it will all balance out, and you'll compare to co-workers so don't worry. Well, that does matter because they set standards that were not achievable. What's your career goal now? Get a job OFF THE PHONES. How do you acomplish this? SUCK UP! Even with making your numbers (which are never good enough) It's who you know. 2 years in, DISH is now concerned about morale and the rating they're getting on Glass Door. Being votes one of the worst companies to work for, didn't sit well with them. What was done....? An employee break room was made. Yay! (sarcasm) Every other company I've worked for already had a break room. But they spend lots of money to "fix" morale. Even changed our bonus pay outs again, because we were still unhappy. Mind you, the new bonus would be bigger and better. It wasn't. Did I mention you'll get pizza and taco's from time to time? New pay outs were put in place, and stricter rules for attendence were inforced. You now lose you sick days, that were sepperate from vacation time. But Dish made it so much better! (sarcasm) Your sick days and vacation time are now combined. You have more time to use. (keep in mind, you can't plan on being sick) So now, unapproved call outs result in points. 5 will get you fired. You can no longer wake up not feeling well and call out, it wasn't planned and approved. So, more people came to work with various colds and flu, causing it to be passed around and general misery to all to avoid points. Did I mention you get free Dish branded shirts and jackets from time to time? Wear them in public and get told off by strangers. Still trying to get off the phones. Still sucking up. Management changes again, gotta start all over sucking up.... Coaches change about every 9 months. Better to hire a new coach then pay an experienced one too much. They'll find an excuse to get rid of them too. Watching unskilled, less tenue co-workers getting promotions. They know how the play the game better I guess. New health plan changes. We didn't raise your rates. They were proud of that. BUT, now they're only covering 70%. They were covering 80%, "BUT THEY DIDN'T RAISE YOUR RATESl Fast forward 2018. Still getting free tacos and pizze.. New attendence policy. Yay! They now how an app to submit time off. Trade with co workers too. Did I mention now you have to be taking calls EXACTLY they time you shift begins now? The 5 minute window to get logged into your computer and start taking calls, will only now apply to before your shift. Dish will allow you to log in up to 5 mins early before your shift, but 1 second after you shift start is considered late that can result in a write up/points. Back to looking for another position. DISH started using the STAR method to interview. So, even if you're qualified, and have the tenure, they will rate your interview skill and find a reason to say no. You didn't give enought detail on your resulution to your example. You gave too much detail on your example. They don't want you, or you didn't suck up enough, you're stuck regardless of how qualifed you are. Dish likes to say how much they're doing to make things better. What's better is their bottom line. They'll lie to your face with a smile, while they're shanking you and say you're not bleeding that much. You're ok. Have some pizza, but don't be late and don't eat at your desk. If you go to DISH, be prepared for abuse from management and from customers. The pizza and taco's will keep you in the bathroom. DON"T eat them.

Good middle management and compensation. Lots of opportunities to learn from plenty of smart people.

Svantaggi

Disclaimer -This is all water cooler hearsay and opinion. During the two years I was there the bill came due on being penny wise and dollar dumb over the years. A great example is Sling. Dish beat basically everyone to market but Netflix with streaming and was the first platform to offer live TV via stream (which YouTube TV still uses as a selling point). What happened? Dish paid the original engineers to build it and then balked at paying them to document and maintain it. Same deal with the cyber security team. After years of expecting security engineers to do exceptional work shorthanded for middling compensation eventually they had none. It was all put on the security manager, who had a heart attack after repeatedly requesting support. He understandably did not return. Not much later one of the core systems was ransomed, and the company fell out of the fortune 500. Despite being in the middle of dealing with the consequences of those decisions leadership was doing it all again with the mobile network build out.

Hearing that you found value in our middle management and compensation, as well as the chance to learn from the talented individuals on our teams, is encouraging. We appreciate you recognizing those aspects of your time with us. On the other hand, the historical context and concerns you shared regarding executive decision-making, infrastructure maintenance, and resource allocation are deeply concerning. Maintaining a stable, secure, and well-supported environment for our workforce is of the utmost importance, and we take feedback regarding employee well-being and operational decisions seriously. We are continually working to strengthen our operations and better support our teams across all business units. Because this review references a sensitive medical situation alongside organizational challenges, we would welcome the opportunity to hear more about your perspective. Please consider reaching out to our team directly at peopleoperations@dish.com so we can learn more.
