Vantaggi
When management leaves you alone, it's fairly easy to get your job done.
Svantaggi
Management is not responsive; very poor communication. Not uncommon for email inquiries about aspects of the job/policies/procedures/etc. to go unanswered. When issues are raised, they're not taken seriously and it wasn't uncommon to have a meeting just to tell you that the issues you raised don't actually exist.
Very little-to-no room for advancement, depending on your original role. No attempts to develop employees or maintain employee morale or engagement. In ten years, despite asking for them on more than one occasion, received zero evaluations of performance.
Underpaid compared to industry standard/locality, and the company has been pocketing pay increases that are built into the contract for some positions, rather than pass them on to employees.
Policies are enforced unevenly and rarely put into writing. When told that a policy that was in black-and-white in the handbook had changed, I asked for an updated handbook. I received no response despite repeated requests over years.
Sometimes they don't care about what you do; at other times they micromanage. Management will often leave employees alone with zero guidance for months at a time and then criticize behavior that could have been guided all along. I'd was once chastised by a supervisor for doing something that the self-same supervisor had recommended that I do, with no apparent self-awareness of the contradiction.
Benefits are substandard compared to other, similar companies.
