At this company I have experienced and learnt so much since my beginning. It exposed me to a wide area of skill sets that many other companies do not offer within their structure. I wouldn't have spent so long here if it wasn't for the growth of knowledge and such a great team environment. Staff are encouraged to learn whether it be field engineers or helpdesk engineers. Rather than escalate issues to another team, the lead engineers in the technical department will sit with you until the issue is resolved or from your expressed interest have assisted you in solving the problem yourself. This I found helped a great deal with my progression in IT knowledge. From my first day I was exposed to every aspect of IT which differs from a lot of Level 1/2/3 support structured environments. Common boardroom meetings with whiteboard/projectors and training knowledge for those that are interested is a great thing. I have worked at many companies but the skillset obtained within this company is fantastic, client networks are well documented with Visio and networking layers 1-3 are made easy to diagnose faults and quickly understand the workings of a client’s network. And we get to work with cool stuff from Palo Alto/Cisco/F5/Netapp/MSA. If you want a certification, it’s encouraged and rewarded which I found refreshing entering this environment.

No company is perfect, it’s about discussion between teams and learning as a whole. It always has had challenges but ultimately prevails due the environment. You may feel challenged but that’s a promotion of thinking, this puts some people on a back foot who are looking for 9-5 ticket work wanting to pass over jobs without trying. But this isn’t about just putting in 9-5. It’s about progression & team building. We spot the 9-5 workers with no passion and perhaps that is a draw card for a lot of IT folk that don’t make the cut. I think more communication between the sales department and engineers is required but that is something the company is acknowledging and working towards so hopefully this improves.
