Vantaggi
Working with great people, and actually wanting to see them each day. Lots of space to work on different projects with different teams. Really easy to talk to anyone in any department, and have enjoyed exposure to development teams. My role has changed quite a bit over the years as the team has grown, and involves a mixture of internal and external communication. My manager and CEO have been really helpful with my career progression. Everyone is always very receptive to ideas and invested in helping the company grow / build great software (that doesn't have too many bugs ;) ). I was never really that into high-spec tech before working at Deskpro, but now I actually really appreciate fast internet, having a decent laptop and 4k screens (every other screen now looks blurry to me). I prefer working in the office to working at home, (air-con, plenty of call booths and a nice kitchen). Breakfasts and unlimited bread and butter in the office plus coffee on tap, always helps to get me out of bed in the morning. The work is challenging and has given me the opportunity to learn about so many aspects surrounding software, as well as full access to the CEO and CTO, and if I ever need to learn about new ideas or concepts to complete projects or improve knowledge (mainly self-learning) I'm given time to do this. Whilst the company has been around for 20 years, it does feel like a tech startup which is cool. Given lots of autonomy to get sh*t done, which works well for me as I love being able to build up my own pipeline and focus on projects that mean the most to me and provide the most impact to the team.
Svantaggi
Software is a large technical product, so it does take a bit of time to understand and does make onboarding pretty full on. But, really rewarding when you 'get there' and other team members always happy to help share knowledge.
