Vantaggi
It’s pretty good while you’re there. Highly competitive benefits and ERG groups and activities put on for the perceived good - we know they do it to reduce time off etc (for the bottom line) but at least they’re well advanced compared to many companies in that space. Smart people. Built on relationships. Overall a culture that does aim to care for the well being of people. Very flexible. Totally grown up culture in relation to flex working - ie as long as you get the job done we don’t care from where you do it. Can’t rate enough on that. Depending on where you work (GB/ global function etc) culture is totally different. Global less “fun” for sure.
Svantaggi
When it came to the layoffs - let’s face it most companies are forced to do it right now - but what a dreadful disappointment it was. To be told via email to a small group that collectively had given more than 100 yrs of service was appalling. To make it as difficult as possible to to take and have addressed concerns during collective consultation - layoffs were uk based but handed at function level. Which meant very few at function level Per location. Once they got past the legalities they sped at which they acted to get longstanding people it the door before they clocked up another year of redundancy was poor - all those years we had helped and contributed to the collective that enabled them to hit their profit margins. What amounted to a couple of thousand was a drop in the oven to them but meant a lot to those who were suddenly left bereft. Not because we were laid off - we got the fact that the external environment was volatile but the way it was handled left a very bitter taste in the mouth of those who had for so many years did everything to advocate them. What a shame.
