It's fun to be a part of the comic book industry and work in an environment with other fans. The people you work with everyday are extremely nice and hard working. The managers and directors I worked with all did their best to find ways to improve how tasks are handled and pushed for supervisors to always look at the current way jobs are completed for opportunities to streamline. No one ever took credit for anything I did to contribute to the improvement and growth of the department I worked in. The company is potentially on an upswing with growing efforts to improve company morale and it did seem like some of my suggestions I made in my exit interview were taken and used. So it does seem that the new upper management structure is listening and trying.

Seven out of the ten years I worked there were fairly positive. Opportunities to promote were offered as well as increases that kept me at a decent wage to stay afloat. Three years ago however that changed. People a part of upper management were retiring or being moved to different parts of the company and then all growth opportunities dried up. As staff left we were not given the opportunity to replace them and instead had to redistribute the work amongst the remaining staff. As reviews approached increases turned to one time bonuses, then became nothing, and anyone working or looking to move up were told there was a promotion freeze. As a supervisor I was asked to fill the role of a Manager with no signs of ever getting promoted or compensated despite efforts from my direct upper management to try and do so. It got to a point where I was no longer in a good financial situation and needed to move on. Along with money and promotions it seemed morale efforts also dried up leading to the overall company morale to plummet. However before I left there was a structural change at the Upper Management Level and signs of improvement were showing as far as morale efforts. Increases did come out right before I left, but it wasn't enough to make an impact for me personally.
